Nocturnes Mist/As Flames Burn/2009 CD Review

Nocturnes Mist are a band from Australia that plays a very dark form of atmospheric black metal with a melodic edge and this is a review of their self released 2009 album "As Flames Burns".

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown in at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the keyboards when they are utilized they bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that have some rawness and aggression with a good amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the music that also utilize some death metal influences as well as some thrash style riffing, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are in the vein of early 90's death metal in the guitar solos and leads with a great amount of skill being put into the playing.

Vocals are all grim sounding black metal screams, while the lyrics cover darkness, depression, hell, nights and occultism, as for the production it has a very dark and heavy sound that is not either too over or under produced.

In my opinion Nocturnes Mist a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band with a melodic edge and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Winds Of Uncreation" "Imperium Ashes" and "Nebulos Spirit". RECOMMENDED BUY.
