Vrolok/Death Rattle Manifestation/Fallen Empire Records/2012 EP Review

Vrolok  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  that  I  would  describe  as  being  ambient  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  ep  "Death  Rattle  Manifestation"  which  was  released  by  Fallen  Empire  Records  during  the  year  of  2012  with  the  songs  originally  being  recorded  in  2003.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  playing  with  no  fast  drumming  or  blast  beats  being  present on  this  recording,  while  the  synths  bring  a  very  dark,  atmospheric  and  ambient  sound  to  the  recording,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  ambient,  occult  black  metal  riffs  that  utilize  some  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  elements  in  the  riffing  and  there  are no  guitar  solos or  leads  present  on t his  recording.

Vocals  range  from  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  to  spoken  word  ritualistic  chanting,  while  the  lyrics  cover  abstract,  occult  and  existenalism  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Vrolok  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ambient  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Mark  Of  Doom".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
